Our class will have Raz-Kids accounts soon. Raz-Kids is a levelled online reading program. The program can be accessed at home or at school.
Raz-Kids is an excellent reading site because it incorporates reading, listening to reading and Assessment of comprehension.
I always ask that students READ the book out loud first, then LISTEN to the book and then complete the comprehension assessment. It's important to follow that order. If students listen first, they may just retell the story instead of READING it themselves.
If the child is having difficulty reading the book and that's why they WANT to listen to it first, then they need to be moved to a lower level until they are able to read the book independently.
Your child will come home with this information in coming weeks.
